VEED is a whole video editor in a tab, and your footage goes to its servers to get there. suubbs does one job on your own machine, with no watermark, no minute cap and no account.
That is the trade, stated plainly, and for a lot of people VEED is the right answer.
VEED is a browser-based video editor with auto-subtitles as one feature among many: trimming, translation into a hundred-plus languages, AI avatars, team collaboration and a full editing timeline. If you want one tab that does the whole job, that is a genuinely good reason to pay for it.
suubbs is not an editor. It transcribes, times, styles and exports subtitles, on your own machine, and stops there.
Your video is uploaded to VEED. That is how a cloud editor works and it is not a criticism — but if your footage is under NDA, unreleased or simply nobody else's business, it rules the whole category out and no feature list changes that.
Subtitle minutes are metered. The free plan caps auto-subtitles at thirty minutes a month and puts a watermark on exports. suubbs meters nothing, because nothing runs on our hardware — there is no cost for us to pass on.
VEED wins on breadth and on languages. It cannot win on the two rows about where your file goes.

…you want a full editor in the browser, you work with a team, you need translation into languages we do not cover, or you are editing on a machine you cannot install software on. Those are real advantages and its free tier is a fair way to test them.
Use suubbs if the footage should not be uploaded, you resent being metered, or you already have an editor and only need the subtitles doing properly. Our browser version is free with no watermark and no account, so the comparison costs you nothing to run.
Checked in August 2026. Competitors change their pricing and their feature sets, and we are not always the first to notice. If something here is out of date, tell us at hello@suubbs.com and we will fix it — an inaccurate comparison is not worth a sale.
